It’s officially 2016, and that means that people are going to be making a whole bunch of New Year’s resolutions. Many will focus on health matters, like losing weight or getting in shape – and we think this is great! We also think an important part of overall health is mental health, and we know that an important factor in maintaining positive mental health is maintain positive spaces. In eastern cultures, there are entire fields of study dedicated to the science of creating and improving the energy flows in spaces. But it doesn’t take a degree to create a space that feels great.
Improving your own space so that it’s up to date and makes you feel positive is a great place to start. Think about adding more color, decor and even permanent upgrades like modern tile or granite. This is a simple complement to other new year’s resolutions like reducing stress – when your space feels comfortable, you feel comfortable and able to relax.
Another big resolution that people are making this year is to stay in contact or rekindle relationships that have fallen by the wayside. It happens to the best of us, we lose touch because we’re all so busy. But research shows that staying contact with people and maintaining relationships helps build and keep overall health. We think this is a great reason to have a space designed to be welcoming, and that offers a place for people to gather and reconnect. Maybe now is the time, with your redecorated space, to finally have that party with those you haven’t seen in a long time!
People are also making resolutions to go back to school this year. This is a great resolution as keeping the mind in good shape helps reduce the risks of many mental disorders. Having a space, offering the calm you need to study and think, is essential to following through on this resolution. Not only do you get more out of what you study, you relax in the space designated for study.
Remember that your new year’s resolution will only be successful if you create the space you need, one that inspires, relaxes and helps you reach the goals you seek. Here’s to an amazing 2016!
